Limenas, the capital of the island, is located on the north side of Thassos Island. It is the closest point to the Greek mainland with the main port which connects the island with the port of Keramoti with frequent ferry boat itineraries. It has a population of 3000 inhabitants who are engaged in tourism, fishing, agriculture and marble mining.
